Jim Wilmesher is the Colorado State Legislative Board Chairman and Legislative Representative for Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) Division #256 out of Denver, Colorado.   Elected as Chairman in October 2008, Jim is beginning his work to promote safety and rail legislation for his members in the State of Colorado.  He has been interested in pursuing legislative matters since his initial trip to Washington, DC with his predecessor, Chairman emeritus Michael L. Weston.

Mr. Wilmesher hired out on the Santa Fe Railroad in 1991 in Richmond, CA, and became a locomotive engineer and BLET member in February of 1993.   He transferred to Denver, CO in December 1993, to locate closer to his family.  His union career began in 2001 as Legislative Representative.  Jim stepped up his legislative duties in 2004 when elected to serve as Secretary-Treasurer for the Colorado State Legislative Board.

Jim earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from the University of Missouri and subsequently was employed by the United States Geological Survey in Menlo Park, CA, studying earthquakes along the San Andreas Fault.  His interest in trains and the need to provide for his new family led him to hire out on the Santa Fe Railway in July 1991.

His interests in geology, hunting and fishing, and the outdoors accompanied by the chance to relocate closer to his family in Missouri, led to his move to Colorado in 1993.  Jim, his wife Kay, and his two teenage daughters reside in the south suburb of Denver, Centennial, Co.
